Invisalign Lite Before and After: How the Treatment Works

Invisalign clear aligner

Are you frustrated by small gaps between your teeth? Do you suffer from minor crowding or have you noticed that your teeth have started to drift out of position after previous orthodontic treatment, leaving you feeling unsatisfied with your smile? For simple orthodontic cases, Invisalign Lite can be an ideal treatment, helping to discreetly align your teeth in a short period of time.

What is Invisalign Lite

Like Invisalign, Invisalign Lite uses a series of clear aligners that fit over your teeth, gently and gradually moving them into the desired position. However, whilst Invisalign can take as long as 18 months or more to achieve the results you hope for, Invisalign Lite will usually include no more than 10 aligners and will be complete within 6 or 7 months.

This orthodontic treatment is well suited to treating minor misalignment issues on upper or lower teeth, or both arches. This ‘Lite’ version of Invisalign is usually recommended for problems such as:

  • Small gaps between visible teeth
  • Wrongly positioned teeth
  • Slight misalignment between the upper and lower teeth
  • Slight overcrowding of the mouth

If your problems are deemed to be more complex, an orthodontist may instead recommend Invisalign. If you suffer from moderate to severe misalignment, traditional or lingual braces may be the best solution.

Prior to treatment, an orthodontist will take a digital scan of your teeth and use 3D technology to design a series of aligners that will fit perfectly to your teeth, gently moving them into their correct position. For treatment to be successful, aligners must be worn for at least 22 hours a day and changed for the next aligner tray in the series every two weeks. To ensure that treatment is on track, you may attend a checkup appointment after 2 months.

The Benefits of Invisalign Lite

In addition to the shorter length of treatment, there are a range of benefits to Invisalign Lite, for example, the aligner trays are made to perfectly fit your teeth and mouth, so they are comfortable to wear - treatment is practically painless and any discomfort when changing aligner trays is short lived.

Whereas fixed braces can make cleaning your teeth tricky and make eating certain foods difficult, all forms of Invisalign braces are removable. You can simply take them out of your mouth, so there is no need to worry about difficult brushing and flossing, and you can eat crunchy or chewy foods without fear!

Made from strong medical grade plastic, Invisalign aligners are not easy to damage, and as a series of trays are presented to you, there is no need for regular appointments. In contrast, fixed braces must be tightened regularly in order to be effective. If you have a busy schedule, Invisalign Lite is an extremely convenient way to straighten your smile.

Finally, due to the shorter treatment time, Invisalign Lite is a cost effective teeth straightening solution.
